Olive oil dressing in pot keeps leaking over shelf - why is this happening?

I made up a small pot of olive oil and balsmic vinegar dressing. It only takes up one third of a small pot. Pot is leak proof and has a lid. Yet every time I go to the cupboard to get it out, there is a ring of dressing under the pot! What is going on?

does it run down the side of the pot when you pour some out and then when you sit it back in the cupboard it pools on the shelf? Try wiping the pot with kitchen roll after you have used it and see if that helps

It seeps out from under lid [where it lurks when you shake it].
I'd keep it in the fridge on a saucer.
