Please help me with my Morphy Richards Accent Breadmaker before I throw it through the window.

Following on from my earlier thread ~I'm appealing to anyone who has this model.

If you do have the Accent, can you please, please give me your perfect recipe, as I've tried all of the great tips from everyone and I am still turning out crumpet like bread.

ok - I don't have that model but sympathise - are you using dried milk powder in your recipes ?- lots of manuals recommend this and it gives a horrible crust - I would also take the loaf straight out of the machine and put onto a rack until it cools - will look out the 2 recipes I use and will post them later.

I've tried with and without the dried milk and I've tried taking it straight out. It's just a horrible stodgy, crumpety consistency to the whole loaf.

I have a morphy richards fastbake and whilst the loaves are not stodgy, they are very sweetand somewhat 'damp' with a really thick crust.

Would like to know how to reduce the crust. Am going to try the recipe on the other thread and see how that is.

I did once get a really stodgy wet loaf but it was when i set it overnight so I assumed the yeast and water had somehow mixed and that was the result. Could this be happening in yours?

Try a couple of loafs with Lidl's bread mixes. IME they "work" every time and would give you an indication whether it is your recipe or the bread maker.

I tend to take loaves out pretty much as soon as they are done, and remove from tin after 5 min or so.

Oh I had this model, used it once WITH I ahsten to add LIDL bread mix and it was a total crumpet.

Took it back because the button panel was boiling hot to touch and you have to press it for 2 seconds at least to turn it off

Gave up and got a refund.

The panasonic is meant to be good, are you within warranty?

I am within warranty. Sigh.

Does your panel get hot too? The shop took mine back on that basis alone - almost burnt my fingers when I tried to turn it off after it finished. It stays on for an hour afterwards otherwise.

Worth a try! You can't just say it makes dodgy american bread.

Panel okay. Am still experimenting and will report back soon.

if your wtill within warenty then the panasonic is fab!!

with the one you've got, is there a possibility that your yeast is old? as this can turn out crumpet-esqe bread? somethings have to stay the same e.g.flour yeast water but things like sugar you can cut down...have a fiddle with it...used to have a morphy richards 1 but cant for the life of me remember anything about its name i just know it took alot of fiddling to get it right!

ooh really good strong bread flour is really good to-remember that was a must to!!

Right - I've tried EVERYTHING suggested and am right royally pee'd off.

But, every cloud and all that - Argos have £30 off the Panasonic SD254 at the moment, so am returning the crap unsuitable for use Morphy Richards one and coming home with a wonder machine - I hope.
