Jam & preserve making questions

I'm a jam & chutney making virgin and have a couple of questions...

Is there a quicker way to sterilise jars than putting them in the oven & if not, do the lids have to go in too?

Do you have to used waxed disks or will grease-proof paper do instead?

Thank you!

I haven't heard of another way to sterilise, and yes, the lids have to go in too.

I can't remember ever using waxed disks. I think greaseproof paper is fine.

Enjoy your jam!
