It's ds' birthday on thurs and we're staying with friends in their caravan. I had measured out ingredients to make a cake but when we got to the caravan i realised there was no oven! There is a grill, a bbq and a gas hob. Is there a way to make my cake?

you need something like this arrangement: a camp or dutch oven

I always remember my mum doing the xmas pud in a lidded pudding pot on the bbq. Can't remember exactly how though, not much use am I?

My mum has always maintained that you can bake a cake in a lidded tin on a bbq or gas hob. I've never tried it, but good luck.

Can you not make friends with some nice locals and borrow their oven?

I think my best option is to go and buy a sponge from morrisons and decorate it with the stuff i've brought with me. I was so pleased with myself for being organised and bringing everything i thought i needed.
The pans here r quite small but i might give it a go on the hob.
I have considered making friends with our neighbours in the hope that they might have an oven. There are some amazing vans on the site so we may get lucky!
