A stupid question about rhubarb

My lovely neighbour has just passed some over so if I stew it now will it be ok to freeze later on when its cooled down?

Oh katy I didn't think about ginger! Never mind it's stewed now so when I come to do the crumble I will sprinkle some over the top.

I freeze it raw. Washed and chopped only.
