Big french fancy cake?

Like the Mr.Kipling one.

My sister turns 30 in October and i can either make a posh cake or buy one.
We've been fighting over the chocolate french fancies since we were little and i'd love to make a big one, any help out there?

I guess i'd make a couple of square sponges, find some fancy fondant icing for the outside, but how to do the creamy bit at the top and ice that??

Is it expensive to get one made for you just in case?

Thanks!

Personally I think French Fancies are yuk, but you really need to check out this site.

Tesco do a pink one for about £6.50.

Thanks for the link and you're WRONG about the fancies

ooh I love them but don't buy mr kipling as a protest to them using factory farmed eggs.

M&S do a good copy thank goodness.

Sounds like a great present!

The big Mr Kipling ones also taste nothing like the little ones. I had one for my birthday. Teeny ones are lovely but the big ones are Yuk I'm afraid and they don't do Chocolate.
Good luck with making one. We need pics when you're done

Goldensnitch - that's what i'd heard and they don't do chocolate so i'll def give it a go. I got all carried away last night and thought i could use my loaf tin to make them and do a shoebox full of oversized french fancies but i think that would in reality, be a nightmare to make!

Will report back with photos
