Guessimting measurements for making pizza dough?

Promised DD that we would make pizza today but just remembered that our kitchen scales have broken.
Do weights have to be as exact as when cake-making?

Definitely not. For bread dough you can go on feel (since it depends so much on the flour you're using, following recipes by weight can be unsuccessful anyway). Just add enough water to your basic recipe (mine is just flour, salt, glug of olive oil, yeast and water) to make a soft dough.

Then when you're kneading you can keep adding more flour if it's too sticky!

I bet you can find a US recipe somewhere on the net that uses cup measurements if you need some guidance. But aquavit is right that its not critical like for cakes.

Thanks, it was just the flour I needed to guess (8oz., so i just did 8 heaped tbsps).

Pizzas were delicious, btw
