Dud apricots - OK for jam-making?

I bought some apricots yesterday. They're pretty disappointing (slightly unripe and dry). Actually, I don't think I've ever been able to buy tasty apricots in the UK.

Anyway, do you think I could make jam with them? Am I right in thinking that it doesn't matter so much if they're not full ripe? Should I add a bit of water to compensate for their dryness?

Leave them for a few days and see if they ripen up at all?

If they are not sweet I'd suggest chutney rather than jam. I think it would be delicious with proper ham or leftover roast chicken.

They are sweetish...but I like the chutney idea. Can you suggest a recipe?

I've never made it myself but this one sounds good, though you'll need to sterilise the jars and so on, which this recipe doesn't go into. Personally I would leave out the raisins but that's just me. Chutney has the added advantage of being easier to make than jam because you don't have to worry about the setting point.
