Chocolatey chocolate cake recipe please!!

I'm after a really chocolatey chocolate cake recipe with a good fluffy chocolate icing. You know the kind you buy in the cafes and wish you knew how to make.

Just to throw in a tuppence from Foxy manor, I made a vegan chocolate cake for my friend's birthday (she is the vegan, and bemoans that fact that she cannot find nice cakes). It was lovely, light and I made a chocolate frosting with vegan spread. (Ok so it wasn't fully proper vegan chocolate powder I used, it was Green and Blacks, but I checked and she said it was ok for me to use it).

It would be really nice with a hot chocolate sauce for a pudding. I shall try to find the link, but I am fairly sure it came from the vegan society website.

I have a dd who is allergic to dairy and egg and she will be 5 on Sunday and I must make a chocolate cake for her - I have a couple of recipes and could do one of those I suppose but if you have a better one you would make a gorgeous little girl very happy

would it be a bad idea to substitute the milk for yoghurt in this i only have a little milk left and a pot of yoghurt that needs using up.

This is a G&B recipe and is REALLY good:
12oz plain flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
2 teaspoons bicarb
pinch of salt
4oz cocoa powder
15fl oz water
8oz marg/butter
20 oz sugar (I actually cut this down to 12oz and prefer it that way...)
4 eggs

Cream butter and sugar
Mix cocoa powder with water
Beat eggs until frothy
Add eggs to creamed butter/sugar
Mix the rest of the dry ingredients together and alternately add the flour mixture and cocoa/water to the cake mixture

Divide between 2 tins and bake at 180 deg for 30 mins.

i made The Perfect Rich Chocolate Cake from the link you posted. it was so good! used G&B's cocoa powder for it.

and made a ganache for it too.

will make it again and again!
