when are they in season for picking? I've seen loads in the shops and would like to take dd to pick somenow that i've found out where to go.

June is usual. I think the ones in the shops are either from abroad or hot housed.

yes, june is the best time, as long as we don't have a wet one! There are lots of other fruits she can help pick, raspberries & goosberries are other ones we used to pick with my parents.

I just saw the first british strawbs in the supermarket the other day, very expensive though, but the price should drop when the season starts. The current ones we buy are from Spain (not as nice as British!)
