Chicken smells a bit funny

Bought a fresh chicken on Thursday - sell/use by is the 14th.

Took it out of the packing and it smelt a bit "funny", hoped thought it might just be the packaging so have bunged it into the oven but I can still smell it... or maybe I just think I can ((((paranoid)))

What d'ya think?

i always have odd smell on pre packed chicken if its all within date been kept refrigerated then your probably just worrying im just the same with chicken but it cooks off any bacteria anyway

Hmm if you can still smell it then i'd say chuck it.

agree with nervous, as it cooks there should be a different roasting smell. If it is stillthat same one coming from the oven, bin it. Not worth the risk. Acutally you ned to return to store or trading standards/environmental health. keep packaging.

eeew no, chicken should smell gorgeous and definitely not funny!

You can't kill off all the bacteria by cooking and gastroenteritis is not to be messed with.
