Any slow cooker recipes would be most welcome, hopefully without tomatoes as need to break the habit of chucking in a tin every time!

seal a piece of beef and put it in, leave to roast. Works wonders.

also chicken pieces, mushrooms, celery, tin of campbells condensed mushroom or celery soup + water.

Pork chops with whole grain mustard and creme fraiche sauce (add in onion and apple to)

Made up Chinese Pork thing:

1 pack (1lb) of stewing pork (nice and cheap)
1 small onion
2 cloves garlic
1 inch of ginger or a teaspoon of lazy ginger
some chilli if you want
a good glug of chinese rice wine or dry white wine (maybe about100mls)
a splash of soy sauce
2 teaspoons of Schwartz 'Cook Art' chinese spice mix or something similar
enough chicken stock to cover the meat

  1. Fry up the onions, garlic, ginger and pork.
  2. Bung it all in the slow cooker after breakfast.
  3. Come home at tea time to a gorgeous smell and serve with rice or noodles or stirfry veg or pak choi or whatever.

this makes quite a watery consitencey which I like with rice, but you could thicken with corn flour at the end.

Wow -- thanks!

And not a tin of tomatoes in sight!

we picked up a slow-cooker on the weekend so I'm very keen to use it too!

I love the sound of your chicken dish weegiemum. Yours too, paranoidmother. Can you tell me what a creme fraiche sauce is... ie what do you put with the creme fraiche?

Can you just leave meat inside to roast without any liquid?
