Can I freeze bananas?

I have about 8 that are just about to go off.
If i mash them and put them in freezer bags will they be ok?
Can I freeze them with the skins on?

thought of banana cake but too knackered.
Do you mean just put them in with the skins on?

Peels off, then in freezer.

I used to freeze half-bananas and give them to teething monsters: they like it, it seems to do the trick and not quite as messy as ice lollies !

Peel them first- saves fiddling with soggy skin later. Frozen bananas make great colds smoothies with really good thicknees IFYSWIM

I freeze them for baking. Its fab when you defrost them (only takes a little while) you dont have to peel them, you just snip the top off and they squeeze out like toothpaste!

No mashing either.

aah so you do freeze with skins on.
Anyway it's done now, peeled and chopped and in freezer bags.
