Dumb question.. I need stale bread to make my pasta dish.. I have day old.. and its lovely and fresh..

Should I leave it out in the sun for a bit or is there a magical way to do it?

(stessing as have 30 people I don't know coming for BBQ at 5pm (don't ask!!)

Gentle toasting - or stick it in a low oven for 10 minutes or so. That will dry it out, which is all you're aiming for.
