Don't know what Jane Asher's cake looks like, but I have just received lots of very useful advice on this thread about making a smarties cake - thread contains a picture of the cake which was my inspiration (first post) and the actual cake I made (almost at end of the thread), which was a lot less ambitious!!

Aaaww thanku kindly wigeon.I did get help with it though.
It was the first cake I ever did.
Its the cake on the last page shown when you view inside the book.Its next to the gold fish bowl on the following link, (not done this before so here goes-
