Toffee recipe

Does anyone have to hand a sure fire way to make toffee?
Now I mean the (Not sure if non Australians will understand but please soldier on) hard toffee with 100's & 1000's on top in the paper cupcake things that you used to buy at the local school fete. The kind that you would suck for hours and felt that your teeth were being ripped out if you tried to chew it.
Any ideas????

Delia's Uncle Billy's toffee recipe. If you can't google it, post again and I'll type it out but it is q. long.

It's absolutely scrummy.

Thanks for that. I was despairing over what to make for the school fete. I will give it a go! Hope it works. Last time I made toffee I burnt the suacepan and it would not set. Runny toffee does not a clean kitchen make.
