My maternity pay has just stopped, but I want to stay at home with dd for another 6mnths if possible. I have been thinking of ways to cut my grocery budget. I am going to cut down on buying wine and other luxuries, but I am hoping for some advice on cheap meals. I am buying loads of fresh fruit and veg in a bid to be healthier but the grocery bill keeps going up and up. I've been looking in my ww cookbooks for some inspiration but often these recipes need many different ingredients which all add up.Any ideas?

make things in bulk like shepherds pie, lasagne, pies, sauces for pasta, yorkshire puddins etc and freeze them - they always come in handy.

Frozen veg is just as healthy as fresh as all nutrients are sealed in so I buy bags of various veg and use them as and when needed - go a long way and fresh veg needs using so quickly.

Avoid buying any liquids - you're only paying for water. Don't know if that really makes sense but it's always reduced my bills.

Get your milk delivered. Now, that's daft because it costs more, but it avoids the 'pop into Tesco for a pint of milk and come out with a basketful' syndrome. Maybe you're better at avoiding that than me.

If you're newish to pulses, then canned ones, although much more expensive than dried, are cheaper than realising you've forgotten to soak the dried ones and ordering a pizza instead. Again, you may be more organised than that...
