In Farmer Boy by Laura Ingalls Wilder it mentions how it was used as a breakfast cereal with milk on.

So I'd say good-pinny-wearing-homespun-mother category

Fine as a one off treat/stressed out morning.

giraffesCantRunA10k · 07/06/2009 09:52

Actually depends on if it was plain/sweet/satled/butter?

TrinityRhino · 07/06/2009 09:53

really giraffes
but what is popcorn exactly and what would make it so bad that it would have to be a one off/stressed morning thing

What's the difference between pop corn and puffed wheat or rice crispies? Or cornflakes?

AnarchyAunt · 07/06/2009 09:55

Here

(Can you believe there is a book on the social history of popcorn!!)

giraffesCantRunA10k · 07/06/2009 09:59

Thats why I did my 2nd post when I hear popcorn I think of cinema popcorn laiden with salt and butter

But plain popcorn is different.

So my first answer was about popcorn with lots of salt etc. However compared to some breakfast cereals anyway there probably isnt much difference.

FigmentOfYourImagination · 07/06/2009 10:00

corn is a veg yeah ? Therefore it is one of your 5 a day

jumblies · 07/06/2009 10:05

it's probably more nutritious than cocoa pops. With milk sounds quite nice

I gave my unborn baby icecream with choc sauce for breakfast this morning DD had porridge though.

TrillianAstra · 07/06/2009 11:28

Did you pop it yourself?

I think you;d have to eat quite a lot to get much energy out of it - it's mostly air.

ilovespinach · 07/06/2009 12:14

my mom gave my sister jaffa cakes for breakie every morning because it was all she would eat

I wouldn't worry about popcorn
