My 5 month old will only eat banana!

Can anyone help, my five month old ds only seems happy to eat banana! I have tried all sorts, sweet pots, swede and carrot, pot and parsnip, I even gave in and bought some jars ( I thought he might have heard about my cooking!).
He seems to take a few tastes, think about it and then scream blue murder. I don't give in to him as I don't want him to just eat banana all the time, but also he gags on anything else and seems to choke cos he works himself up....
He's gone off milk as well, i'm worried he'll starve!

Gini
When he gets hungry, he WILL eat! Have you tried papaya? Just trying to think what else - how about plain and simple baby rice or the baby cereals mixed with milk? My ds loves the HIPP cereals you get in pouches.
Good luck.

What about some pureed fruit - apple or pear. Maybe mix this with baby rice.

It's true, when ds is hungry he will eat !. My ds loves bananas, can't get enough (just like dh funnily enough). Ds also loves mangos. Shame there a bit pricey ! The HIPP cereals and baby rice was also a total winner when he was under 1.
Our policy is if ds won't eat the food, then fine, he'll have to wait till next mealtime. No fuss, no hassle and if the food is suitable ds often gets the same food brought out at the next meal and will then eat it :-) .

Exactly my approach, PJA. Gini - have you got the Annabel Karmel Baby and Toddler mealplanner? My ds loves the dried fruit compote and many of the other recipes. He also likes mango, plums, melon, and all types of fruit. The book also has some good recipes for vegetable purees which are a bit more interesting than your average puree!

have tried pear (got a funny look, but ate some) - hated apple - even though I bought a sweet one and mango (tesco finest - riped ??!! on the tree - v pricey) - was tried today....i'm afraid he's just a banana boy!
Will try the things you have said, useful tips. When I first strated weaning him he'd eat anything, getting fussy i expect - typical man!

What about mixing banana and other fruits ?

how about fromage frais - mind you I should warn you its even more addictive than banana! I have this really bad habit of encouraging ds to eat other stuff by giving him a mouthful of fromage frais first and then shovelling teh rest in - no doubt I'll soon be posting 'won't eat anything but...'
