Carrot Cake how fine do you grate the carrot?

I have made my first carrot cake today and I was amazed at how large the grated carrot looked after I had mixed all the ingredients together. So I blended the lot!

The cake has come out ok, just wondered what other people do. Had a quick look on line at other recipes and no one really states how fine or coarse to grate.

TIA

i use the regular grater.
i like bits of carrot in my carrot cake. it isn't supposed to be a "smooth"cake

I too use the regular grater. The cake comes out fine, with identifiable strands of carrot.

Ok thanks

When these cakes have gone I will have another go, you can still see the carrot' its just rather fine and small!

Yeah, I was surprised how big the grating were too the first time I made carrot cake.

Was delicious though.

Regular grater here too.

i use the little grater bit on the stanard multi sided graters. i do this anyway for adding carrot to meals to 'hide' it so i guess it is habit to use this side...

I use the small side of the grater. I prefer it like that
