OK, so I had some beef mince from the butcher, bought on 18 May. Should have used it before, but anyway. Got it out today to make bolognese with and it had turned a bit brown (instead of being red). It didn't smell weird or anything so thought, what the heck, and made my bolognese sauce. Ate some myself for lunch, and it tasted fine, I feel fine, etc.

Was intending to give some to 14 mth old baby for his dinner but then had SUCH a terrible afternoon, everything that could go wrong did go wrong, so got paranoid that he would get food poisoning and ended up chucking his dinner away; gave him a pot of baby food instead. He was quite pleased, I think.

However, the rest of the bolognese is still in the fridge. Should I chuck it away? Or feed it to DH and myself only?

Help!

The brown just means its oxidised (come into contact with air- if it smells and tastes fine it probably is.

Personally wouldn't risk it but I have a 3 day rule with meat

oh, thanks so much for quick reply That makes sense. It was wrapped up in a bit of paper, since it was from the butcher, rather than being in one of those sealed boxes. (because we live in Spain where butcher is the norm).
