Picnic food for 9 month old ?

Hi there, well apparently its going to be a good weekend next weekend ! So we're planning on making the most of it and going for a picnic. My 3 year old will eat anything, but not sure what to do for my 9 month DS ? He is starting to eat finger foods, so could anyone suggest what sort of things I could pack for him, as it will be difficult to heat up any of his usual baby food ?

Many thanks

Cold Toast
Cucumber sticks (the fleshy part, no skin)
Veg mash (remember to pack a spoon)

What sort of finger foods has he had so far?

What finger foods will he eat?

I would do little sandwiches and to go with it maybe some, sliced melon, cucumber sticks and a ripe banana.

I guess it depends on what your ds can manage ...

Avocados are always a winner with my ds. slices, mashed, whatever.

I've also done sandwiches with soft bread and cream cheese which he happily chewed on. Do you have a cool bag? I usually take a yoghurt or fromage frais for pudding (we've got those ice block things to keep it cool but they're not essential)

Thanks for the ideas. DS2 is a real foodie, not much he doesn't really like, but I hadn't thought of avocado, so may well add that to his reportoire. Many thanks ladies, just need to hope now that the sun does shine !
