In particular, what can I bake in advance (preferably a few days)? Or, what is extremely easy that I can whip up on the morning?

If whipping up on the morning then fairy cakes or sponge as that is best super-fresh.

If making in advance I'd do something like a sultana loaf or fruit based things.

If making a few days in advance.... er, rich fruit cake?

Meringues always go a storm and can be made well in advance.

GossipMonger · 14/05/2009 17:51

Gingerbread men are always popular

Traybakes are good

Fairy cakes

Scones can be made and frozen

Choc cake

Lemon drizzle

coffee and walnut

tray bakes or rocky road is an easy quick one that all the kiddies and adults love

Overmydeadbody · 14/05/2009 18:07

My carrot cakes are always the first to go, and they're super easy to make and can be made well in advance.

Overmydeadbody · 14/05/2009 18:09

It really depends also if you're selling slices to eat straight away or whole cakes to take home. I'd only bother with carrot cakes if they where whole cakes to take home.

Otherwise, meringues, traybakes, rocky road, fridge cake etc are good.

Giant cookies like the ones from Millie's?

bellavita · 14/05/2009 18:09

brownies - can make them the day before - will be fine.

Overmydeadbody · 14/05/2009 18:10

brownies

Rice Krispie cakes! The easiest of the lot and ok to make in advance, or they only take a few mins to make!

And everyone likes them (well I do anyway!).

mousemole · 14/05/2009 18:18

or marshmallow rice krispie cakes sprinkled with pretty sprinkles. Melt the marshmallows with a bit of buuter, pour in the krispies, mix up, put in cases and sprinkle away. Taste amazing and look impressive !!!

yeah, brownies are good.

wotulookinat · 14/05/2009 18:35

Someone at my playgroup yesterday had made chocolate rice crispie cakes, but with some golden syrup added in. They were superbly yummy

MamaMuesli · 14/05/2009 18:41

anything with a giant chocolate button or a smartie on top.

GossipMonger · 14/05/2009 19:16
