What cereal bars do you give your children?

Just doing my shopping list and trying to add a few more things for the dss' lunch boxes - lots of you seem to put 'cereal' bars in but I'm just wondering if you know which are the nicest healthiest ones iyswim?

Any other little bits I could add to the lunchbox that require no effort would be good too! They tend to have sandwiches, crackers, raisins, apple, banana, pots of peach in juice, yoghurt, cubes of cheese, muffin, occasionally low fat crisps or a breakaway type biscuit (oh not all in one lunch of course!).

I agree with Snafu

MD -

snafu · 02/05/2005 21:05

Oh crikey, now I agree with hunker too. Where will it all end?

Gobbledigook · 02/05/2005 22:09

Ooh you are all stars - thank you. Organix Goodies it is then!

MD - hey, shortbread, even I can make that too! It's just that 'rubbing' part that's tricky!

With breastmilk yoghurt indeed - norty Hunky!

Oh, Snafu - did you have to say that? I'm just gonna have to agree with you. Don't try and stop me, OK?

GDG - thought you'd like that - was snurking while I wrote it

Twiglett · 02/05/2005 22:11

Jordan's frusli here

Gobbledigook · 02/05/2005 22:15

Oh Twig - just as I'd made up my mind! Well, I'll buy both and see what they think.

JanH - their lunchboxes are good cos I do them! Dh went to Tesco the other morning and came back with...horror of horrors...COCO POPS I could have killed him!! I've told him he can take them to work and eat them himself - evil mummy that I am!

darlingbud do you mean nutrigrain?

Think I'll try those organix dippers for DSs

darlingbud · 02/05/2005 22:17

Nutrigrain - yes thats it.

hunkermunker · 02/05/2005 22:17

GDG, I think your DH may have had an ulterior motive when he bought them...

Gobbledigook · 02/05/2005 22:20

Did I mention he also bought Crunchy Nut Cornflakes and Honey Nut Cheerios - what the hell was he thinking of?!?!?!? It's rice krispies, weetabix, muddles or wholemeal toast in this house..or nothing!!

JoolsToo · 02/05/2005 22:21

come on! you know he's a cereal fiend!

Gobbledigook · 02/05/2005 22:27

Yes but he bought the most sugar loaded cereal he could find!

BTW JT - took dss swimming today - ds1 spent almost all of the time OUT of armbands! He was jumping right in, going right to the bottom, swimming up and back to the side SO proud of him!!! Kieran and Liam were there and Kieran was doing the same - I was totally amazed!! They were jumping in backwards and everything!

'T' will be saving me from drowning soon! so talented

Gobbledigook · 03/05/2005 11:19

OK, so I gave ds2 an organix goodies raspberry bar thing going round Tesco - he wasn't impressed and ended up with jaffa cakes

Bought a few though and will put them in the lunchboxes and see how they go - sometimes they eat stuff at nursery they won't eat at home!

Got the Jordans ones too Twig.
