My birthday cake

I love making cakes, but as dh doesn't like them, i restrict myself otherwise i would be huge (and already big enough)

However, next week is my birthday, so i've 'concocted' my ideal (i hope) cake.

Before i make it, does this sound ok?

Going for a vanilla & hcoc theme (in my dotage, too much choc is actually too much these days)

Boston Cream Pie as the 'base' (two sponges of yellow cake with custard filling & choc glaze) with an extra layer of choc glaze in the centre.
on top - choc ganache piped around the edge, with mini choc truflles decorating the piping.
centre - a mix of choc curls & mini vanilla fudge pieces, scatted over the glaze.

I have put a lot of thought into this! is it the ideal birthday cake?

Will rpob eat it with a scoop of ice cream. yum

I think we will need to see a photo when you are done (done making, not done eating!).

BTW, love your kitchen and the cake on your profile - very WI-ish

lol - the pics on my profile are now out of date. now have big US mid-western house, so loads of space but not quite the same style as the last place. they are left there from a mad on line victoria sponge competition.

if i can sort out the technology, i may even post a pic of the cake! it could become an annual event, with everyone suggesting their favourite ideas.

it is just 3 months til dd's birthday, i need to start planning her cake soon!

It sounds delicious. Nigella's Boston Creme recipe is good. Do you need help eating the cake? I'm not far away, really
