Scottish Food for School Picnic

Anyone have any good iseas for Scottish food(and the rest of GB too) for our school picnic.

Last year I went waaay overboard and cooked myself into a frenzy with scotch eggs, tablet, fudge, scotch pancakes, scones, raspberry jam, oatcakes (and a lovely cheeseboard)... oh loads of stuff.

I am thinking 'easy and impressing looking'!

Scottish salmon (whole)?

Tunnocks teacakes?

Just pick a few of the things in your list.

Recently my dc had a Scottish Food Week and they made potato cakes/scones and drop scones (pancakes) and oatcakes.

You could always make a nice Dundee cake which would look impressive.

Just roll up with 1/2 a dozen 2 litre bottle of Irn Bru and 2 dozen boxes of tunnocks teacakes and wafers and you'll be fine

ROFL Irn Bru - was just going to suggest that and a mince and bean 'peh'

Fish supper, a roll and lorne, a bottle of buckie, 6 tunnocks teacakes, a deep fried mars bar and some tablet. Oh and chicken curry pies. From Pie Bobs nach.

I can't think of much by way of food that hasn't already been mentioned (other than smokies, but how well would smoked fish go down at your school?) but how about raspberry smoothies for drinks?

Saltire · 06/05/2009 16:41

Oh aye, I forgot Buckie - neccesary if it's teenagers

georgiemum · 07/05/2009 14:41

just bought loads of oatcakes, shortbread and tunnocks tea cakes

Have decided to go for a 'high tea' theme - to incorporate the whole of GB!
