Cakemakers - working with black sugarpaste icing

How do you roll out black sugarpaste icing without using icing sugar to stop it sticking to the work surface. I don't want to use icing sugar because otherwise I'll get white marks all over my sugarpaste.

put cling film down? Roll out paste over it, doesnt stick to it at all.

But won't it stick to the rolling pin?

Or do I sandwich in between two sheets of clingfilm?

If you get white marks just gently wet it - icing sugar dissolves and you can't see them

use soot.

No prufrock's idea is a good one.

Thats what i did when i made a cake last.
It worked ok.

Be super careful wetting it so it doesn't leach colour - you could also put clingfilm over the icing sugary bit, and rub it till the black icing absorbs it with the warmth of your finger.

or just get a small paint brush or pastry brush and brush the marks off - I had to cover a board with black sugar paste last week for my cake and it worked ok.
