My favourite pasta salad is wholemeal fusilli (I find it less sticky and tastier than white fusilli), pesto, pine nuts, parmesan and rocket. Is that the kind of thing you mean? How about rice and peas for the rice dish? I know it's obvious but I don't cook with rice much so I'm at a loss www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/database/riceandpeas_81543.shtml

Past salad?

Pasta twirls with bacon, feta or mozzarella, baby spinich, cherry tomato

or bacon, feta, basil, tomatoes, spring onion - could maybe add avocado

or bacon, rocket, parmesan, toasted pine nuts,

or for vegetarian, leave out bacon.

Put dressing on of olive oil, white wine vinegar, garlic, lemon juice and pepper, but leave putting dressing on until the last minute.

will go to the shops and see what i can find.

Basmati rice cooked with sauteed onion, a grated carrot, a handful of raisins and toasted pinenuts scattered over once cooked. Served hot.
