What to do with asparagus?

I treated dp and I to some asparagus today.

What should I serve it with? I've had it several times before but usually as a side dish.

I was considering making a tart, or having it with some fish.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

These all sound good. I love fresh vegetables so much and I'm ridiculously excited about having my first taste of asparagus this year.
I'm easily pleased I know.

imho it's best virtually on its own. with butter or dressing or hollandaise sauce. or with parma ham.

I love asparagus I eat them whenever possible and as plain as possible or maybe with some nice olive oil or possibly home made vinagrette lots of garlic yum yum so pleased it is now in season

risotto or lightly cooked and tossed with pasta, cheese, mushrooms etc...
or smoked salmon crumbled into the pasta...

steamed with a poached egg and hollondaise sauce.

Or wrap in parma ham or something and grill, then dip into boiled eggs, into which you have dripped a teeny bit of white wine vinegar and salt and pepper. Sort of grown up eggy soldiers

Heat a griddle pn untill smoking, meanwhile get some ground coriander oil and lemon juice, blend thouroughly then toss the asparagus in it before griddling in the pan - yummy!

Reall good with risotto and a marinated peice of meat i.e bbq chicken/ lovely rare steak or a nice peice of fish.

It's really nice griddled or steamed/boiled with a huge nob of better and always eat it with your fingers, it's the best way

Griddled with halloumi is nice.

We often have asparagus with prawns - simmer chilli and garlic, add white wine and lemon juice then add the asparagus. Chuck the prawns in for the last 5 minutes. With fresh pasta and fresh parmesan.

Not sure if I should be eating this stuff though as I'm pg , but I have to buy some asparagus now!
