Plantain?

I bought two, with the intention of frying them. Last time I did this, it didn't come out well. Now I've found you can boil them - are they still as tasty?

Also, how can you tell when they're ready to cook? Are they meant to be spotty, or all black, or what?

ooh fry them, they are yummy fried, slice into discs then gently fry

Fried is deffo brill! The only way to do them imho. Fry them slowly. Make sure the oil is hot though! You can also roast them. Don't boil them, you lose the lovely sweetness.
