Shall I buy an ice cream maker?

HI, just been looking at ice cream makers, are they a load of faff or worth having?

I have in mind the Philips Delizia around £45 not the Gaggia type £300 range.

Would appreciate advice, thanks.

we have a £20 kenwood one which is great

We have the Phillips one, it is about 9 years old so may now be updated. It does make lovely smooth ice cream, but I then put it into the freezer for a while to completely set.

I think mine is the Philips Delizia, it's the one from Lakeland that has a freezing disc instead of a bowl.
I like it, it's not the kind of thing you use all the time but it makes wonderful sorbets etc. For ice cream I tend to cheat and use bought custard mixed with cream plus whatever the flavour is.
If you have fruit gluts you will find it worth having.
DCs love watching it go round and round too....

Thanks all, I'm going to sit on the issue a while and see, we really don't have space for something that's not often used - cue slow cooker, pasta maker, lean mean grill machine
