I am stumped on the logistics of this...

Friend coming round for lunch tomorrow after playgroup and I wanted to have some nice food to return the favour after going to her's last week.

I have planned a roast chicken ( I envisaged it straight from the oven, but Imguessing thats not going to be possible) a rice salad and potato salad.....

I need to leave about half 8 for playgroup and we will be back about 11.30 ish

Any help as to when to cook chicken , prepare salad etc?

Why don't you have something prepared in advance?

A simple salad, crusty bread rolls and a smorgasboard of salami, cold meats and nice cheeses and some pickles and fresh fruit would be lovely!

What time do you want to eat lunch? if it's just the two of you and the DCs, a small chicken could easily be cooked by 13:00 - get it ready before you go so that all you have to do when you get back is pop it in the oven.

Alternatively, I'd agree don't do it straight from oven. Cook it in advance and serve at room temp with salads.

[personally I also wouldn't do both a rice and a potatoe salad but one or the other and then a nice green salad to go with it]
