I've never made a curry before and one of my mates is coming round one night and we fancy one.

Does anyone have a fail safe recipe for some sort of chicken curry.

I don't want anything like a korma, I want something with a bit of a kick to it.

i dont hav a recipe as such, but what i do is get a tin of tomatoes and whizz them up with the hand blender, chuck them in a pot with lashings of paprika and chilli powder and some cumin (or just about any spices/herbs i have in the cupboard)

Leave it too cook out. In separate pot cook the meat and add to sauce and make some basmati rice

forgot to say some tomato puree aswell

DP loves it, as it has one hell of a kick by the end

Look in this list of recipes

I have made a few of her recipes and they are really easy to follow and turn out like they should.

If you don't want to go through the hassle of using curry powder, garam masala or grinding your own spices then I would recommend the Patak curry PASTES not sauces, they have balti, madras and i think vindaloo.

Follow the cooking guide on the jar and if you feel it needs a bit more kick add some fresh chopped chillies.

Thank you all for your help. I'll have a browse at the recipes etc and do a trial run.

omg I made the most delish easy one last night guided by an indian friend....we all loved it

1sp of each of the spices to start and add more if you want to (I did 4 x the ground coriander as I love the tangy taste)

Mustard seed and whole cumin - heat in bit of oil until it pops

Then add turmeric, ground coriander and ground ginger, garlic

chopped onions, chopped meat if you want, tin of tomatoes, tins of borlotti / kidney beans / lentils (or all of them)! Mushrooms / courgettes - add whatever you fancy.

Add carton of coconut cream and also chilli too if you want to. Chopped coriander in at the end if you want.

It really was lovely and I was very surprised!
