Dinners using only a gas hob

We have just moved into a new house and have inherited a very old, manky range cooker. We have ordered a new one but theres a delay on and could be weeks before we get our new one

I have no itention of using the actual oven as it is caked in grease, dirt and i dread to think what else. It really is fit for the tip!
I have cleaned up the hobs and have been using them as well as eating copious amounts of Takeaways. Great but im piling on the pounds!

I need ideas for dinners I can cook my family using just gas hobs and a microwave as i think DH is getting fed up of Pasta

I do a delia chicken risotto dish which is all on hob see here.

It says at the end you can put in the oven but I always do on the hob in a casserole dish.

Casseroles done on the stove top
Fried or braised meat/fish and vegetables
Curry or stroganoff and rice

I'm a bit confused, we hardly use an oven and don't even have a microwave, but seem to manage quite well!

stew type things on a low heat
stir fry

you can also do roast dinner on a bbq if you have one!

My student accommodation never had ovens, just a kettle and one of those awful plug-in electric two-ring hobs. If you wanted a microwave you had to buy one.

You can do pretty much anything if you have 3 hobs.

Pasta, rice, noodles, cous cous can all be boiled.

Potatoes can be boiled, boiled then mashed, fried.

Meat can be fried or boiled (boiled = in a soup or stew or casserole).

You can do bacon or sausages in a frying pan.

You can stir-fry things if you have a wok.

Veg can be steamed or fried or boiled.

It's getting warmer so you can also eat uncooked foods like salads.

spaghetti with a meat/cheesy sauce. stir fry chicken or meat, boil noodles or rice. omelet. chicken cutlets dipped in egg and breadcrumbs and fried. you can steam carrots, broccoli. green beans are lovely fried in a little oil, then add lemon juice and garlic (we had a similar situation when we moved house and went ovenless for 3 weeks)

buy a cast iron griddle thingy....you can grill chops, steaks, marinated chicken etc..

we have two - the second is for fish only - great for salmon and tuna steaks.
