American Biscuits - anyone have a recipe ?

I don't mean sweet cookies, I mean the kind that our colonial friends use as a kind of crust/pie topping.

My mum used to make an 'american turkey pie with biscuits', which was lovely. The recipe has disappeared over the years, and whilkst I can get the turkey in a creamy sauce for the filling reasonably right, I can't get the topping.

I've done it a couple of times using a cobbler type topping, but I recall the real topping being 'more short' IYSWIM.

Thanks timmette. It's an interesting recipe, which I'll try another day.

I found this one which I used for yesterday's dinner, and they were great.

I can recommend this as a way of using up left over roast chicken or turkey

Aren't they just like scones, except unsweetened?
