Does anybody know if I can find out if the 2 kilos of mussels we collected from the beach this morning are ok to eat?

There were no signs up saying do not eat the shellfish, but I know that dodgy mussels can make you really ill.

DH is like "ach, they'll be fine" but I am not so sure.

I'm a bit of a naughty person, I'm pregnant and has moules marinieres last week but they were from a very posh hotel with a great reputation. I'm afraid that seafood is my only vice when pregnant, I can do without caffeine and alcohol but the seafood gets me everytime .

So Mawbroon? how did it go? did you eat the mussels?

mawbroon · 13/04/2009 20:35

Right, we have just eaten them.

About a kilo each. More than enough to make us very ill if they are dodgy.

So, just in case. Goodbye lovely MNetters, it was a pleasure knowing you all.

Seriously though, they were ok. A bit gritty tbh and we found a couple of pearls in them. I think I will just buy some next time, it would be a whole lot less worry!
