I want to start baking

Where/Who does the best baking recipes.

Also, we are BLW at the moment. I am assuming things like carrot cake, banana bread, muffins will be ok for DS as any salt and sugar content will be minimal?

IMO?E you don't need to put salt in anything you bake and you can reduce the sugar by quite a bit and you won't notice the difference.

See I wouldn't have known to take it out. It is obvious though as I don't cook with salt or sugar with anything else!

I really like Nigella Lawson and have never failed with any of her recipes though I have seen plenty of posts on here saying they never work. I have her Chocolate cloud cake cooling in kitchen at the minute and it smells like heaven! How to be a domestic godess is a lovely book imo.

I would think the above things are ok for your ds as long as not eating them all the time. Must admit I didn't do cakes at weaning age but that was down to an egg allergy rather than anything else.

Muffins are a great place to start.

Wet ingredients into dry and they rarely go wrong. Tonnes of different variations too.

What recipes though Muffin? Don't want to get Betty Crocker from ASDA!

inscotland, search MN for recipes! It's been invaluable to me learning to cook and bake over the past year! So much so that I'm now confident enough to bake (albeit a basic sponge) without a recipe & have even started decorating the cakes I make for birthdays etc. Before discovering MN, I would have served up a meal or cake out of a packet without a second thought!

P.S. the recipes section on here is fab for some simple but yummy recipes for cakes etc

I want to start baking too. I got Mary Berry's Ultimate Cake Book but av not tried anything yet. I made flapjacks with a friend and they'r so easy to make and delicious.
