Hand in blender incident [blush]

So I've been baking regularly for about 30 years but today something totally new happened. And it wasn't good. My wooden spoon suddenly got stuck in the hand held blender and just pulled my hand in between the rotating blades. My little assistants were covered in batter as I jumped very ungracefully around the kitchen shouting OW OUCH. DH came to my aid by helpfully asking why I didn't just let go of the spoon?

Luckily my hand was OK, probably because our blender is rubbish - just a bit blue and scratched. But as I never knew that this could happen I'm frankly a leetle beet shocked - thought I'd better warn y'all!

Any hand in blender stories of your own will bound to make me feel like less of an idiot so do feel free...

not just hands in blenders but a whole raft of numpties to make you feel better

ds1 was making a smoothie a few weeks ago. Normally he just gets on and does it himself, but it was making an awful noise, so I went in. The little plastic thing that plugs the whole at the top of the blender was in with the fruit and juice and it was gradually attempting to blend the thing!

Never mind, it was a very old blender, and was a good excuse for a new one.

I'm a veteran of grating my fingers - with a hand held grater too so there's really no excuse for that!!

Well my dp once got his tongue, and his long hair entangled in a electric mixer whisk,He was trying to lick the mixture from the attachment and accidentally turned it on.

I had one of those handheld blenders, and was once using it. it got jammed and I put my finger in to unblock it but forgot I was holding the on/off button with the other hand. I pressed it and my finger was shredded!

I was dripping blood and decided for some reason that I would phone dh. He suggested I went straight to the hospital.

Lesson learned - I always unplug now before I sort out blockages.

[finger is ok btw, but nail will never be the same again]

I broke my first blender by leaving a teaspoon in it when I switched it on.

A few years ago I did EXACTLY the same thing as Pollyanna. DH shouted at me on the phone 'how could you be so bloody stupid' and then came home in a panic that I might be bleeding to death on the kitchen floor!

I posted a tip a while ago about not holding the elctric mixer beaters when you turn it on.........

Thanks ladies for all your tips and funny stories- it's good to know I'm not alone and that you and your Dps (mainly the one with his tongue in the whisk ) are still alive & well and able to tell amusing tales!
