I am doing prawn, pea and ricotta pasta and while I remembered I needed raw prawns I didn't realise they were meant to be defrosted.

Cook for longer or try and defrost quickly in cold water?

Help please.

TIA

personally, I'd defrost in cold water and just make sure they're properly pink when cooked.

I've done ti myself.

Straight into cold water or do I put them in a bag first?

I put them straight in cold water. Once you get the frost off them, they defrost fairly quickly.

Put them in a sieve and then run them under a cold tap.

All done, thank you.

I am cooking them for longer than the 2 minutes stated.

Looks fab.

Thanks again.

Don't cook for longer as you'll make them tough and ruin them!

In a sieve and run under cold water. If you want, you can use tepid water - but no warmer than that otherwise you'll start to cook them.

Just did 2 more minutes and they were okay. A little tough but not so the meal was spoilt. I will plan better next time!
