Is Crisco available in the UK? If so, can you get it at the supermarket?

If not, what would be a suitable substitute?

Thank-you again

Crisco is vegetable oil that is solid at room temp. They call it shortening.

So, vegetable fat, I think Crisp n' Dry comes as a block?

lucysmam · 04/04/2009 22:15

oh, well that was simpler than I thought it would be to find out! Was busily googling away trying to find out where I could get it from over here! Thanks shona

This?

lucysmam · 04/04/2009 22:18

I think so yeah, according to the Wikipedia page I just had up it's solid veg fat. Maybe that's just the brand name it's sold under in the USA

I think that Trex is the UK equivalent

thisisyesterday · 04/04/2009 22:25

sainsburys sell a range. they do their own brand, or something like trex would work

lucysmam · 04/04/2009 22:28

brill, will have a look in Sainsburys for Trex on Tuesday. Thank-you for helping, it's much appreciated
