I've had a chilli in the slow cooker all day, it is smelling and tasting gorgeous, but, could do with thickening.

How do I go about this?

Easiest way is to rub in some plain flour into a knob of butter and add. As butter melts the flour is absorbed.

if i am using a normal pot, i would take the lid of and let it bubble, to allow it reduce.

as i don't have slow cooker, i dont know whether you can take the top off and turn it up, so that it is bubbling vigorously?

I would reduce too

Otherwise you could try some tomato puree
Sassy doesn't it go lumpy if you don't cook it first (the flour/butter that is)

Nope, the trick is to keep heat really low so it melts slooooowly. Works for me!

I would make a paste of cornflour and water. (dh needs a gluten free diet so wheat flour suggestion no good for us)
