Have just got an ice-cream maker from Freecycle but it had no instructions / recipes.

Anyone help?

Make egg custard (any recipe will do) plenty sweet enough, as sugar "disappears" in ice-cream. Flavour with vanilla, or cardomon (goes well with apple), or rum n raisin (soak raisins in rum and add to vanilla ice-cream after churning before turning into tub), or chocolate (melt dark choc into cream/milk before adding the eggto make the custard).
I also make sorbets in mine - cooked pureed fruit and sugar.
What are you doing mumsnetting about icecream makers at 6.30 in the morning?

Don't forget that the bowl needs to be put in the freezer for 24 hours or so before you start making the mixture (presuming you haven't acquired a very expensive Magimix ice cream maker)

Happy to report no sick today, just diahrrea (sp?).

Ice-cream without the maker is frozen blackcurrant mousse without the gelatine - yum if you have access to blackcurrants - frozen or fresh. Just need them, pureed and sieved and egg whites, sugar and whipped cream.
