and it actually came out as quite a bargain...

2 large sea bass fillets
roast veggies
2 jam sponge puddings
bottle of red plonk

enjoy it!

We did the same in Waitrose yesterday, but with the Indian

4 veggie samosas
2 curries
1 large pilau rice
pack of 4 Cobra

All for £10.

Do normally make them from scratch but wanted something quick, it was lovely.

georgiemum · 26/03/2009 18:02

Was the curry nice? I quite like the M&S veggie curry and dahl when I can't be bothered to make it.

I did see a 2 eat for £9 in Tesco but it dodn't look very nice at all. In fact every time I have bought someting ready made from Tesco I say 'never again!'.

Hold on - 4 beers too! Veggie curries? Oh well, that's tomorrow night's dinner sorted out!

Sad that I feel the need to broadcast to the nation!
Yes, I saw whole chickens there too.

We had the chicken tikka massala, and I did enjoy it.

Never tastes as good as home made, but what does?

timmette · 26/03/2009 18:56

Oh I am so jealous wish there was an M&S here - you lucky lucky people

McDreamy · 26/03/2009 18:58

I love M&S food, it's gone from being a treat to being a Monday night habit as DH has to drive past one! I look forward to Monday night dinner

samsonara · 26/03/2009 19:04

What's sad about that? Sad would be if you got frozen faggots and mushy peas from the local 247, when you really wanted a posh dinner! It's not sad food you now it's m and s food...so enjoy

stleger · 26/03/2009 19:19

Dh said the sea bass was lovely, and the red ine seemed good to me (not great on knowing wine!)

georgiemum · 28/03/2009 09:21

Sea bass was lovely and the roast veg were very nice too.

MY DP got the Mother's Day meal for four last weekend and it was luuvverly.

JollyPirate · 28/03/2009 09:24

They were doing the whole chickens yesterday - unfortunately had just got one from Sainsburys. We had:

King Prawn Linguine
Garlic ciabatta
2 chocolate sponge pudding (which I didn't eat but DH and DS did).
A bottle of white wine which was very drinkable

First time I have ever done this and thought it was nice for a once a month treat - much cheaper than going out.

TrillianAstra · 28/03/2009 09:45

I've got one of those whole chickens - does anyone have a suggestion on how to make it more special than just a plain roasted chicken? Do you stuff a lemon up its bum or cover it with herbs or something?

Also got:
parmentier potatoes (don't know what that is precisely)
cheese selection
bottle of pink plonk

StirlingTheStrong · 28/03/2009 09:53

Trillian - I put a quartered lemon inside with some thyme, then cover skin with olive oil (you could use butter but I have a dd who is allergic to dairy) and then a good spinkle of salt, pepper and paprika.

I got one from M&S yesterday - the chicken alone would have been £8.50, so that is what we will have on Sunday!

TrillianAstra · 28/03/2009 09:54

Wow you got a bigger chicken than me - I tought I was dong well with my would-have-been-£7.70 chicken!

Thanks for the tip, I wouldn't have thought of paprika but now you mention it it sounds good.

Parmentier potatoes are just cubed potatoes with butter and herbs. I made my own a few weeks ago and they were much nicer then M&S's.

We had the family roast promo last weekend for Mother's day and it was fab.

Lamb roast, a huge portion of braised red cabbage, the berry jelly and a bottle of red for £15.

DH and I were saying we need to do the £10 deal more often.
