technically probably not.

But personally I would if I was confident about the ingredients and cooking in the first place. I would make sure I nuked it second time around though.

waitingforgodot · 25/03/2009 16:59

I probably would, but I don't want to be responsible for killing your family so I won't advise you to

waitingforgodot · 25/03/2009 17:34

DS is refusing to eat it anyway despite me pretending its a sausage roll
Not that he eats many sausage rolls!

Well how do you heat up a shop bought pie that is sold to you cold then? I always thought that you could re-heat almost anything once.

Reheating once only isn't the law you know - it's only a rule of thumb to minimise risk - you don't magically get food poisoning after reheating twice, and reheating once only won't prevent you from getting food poisoning if you cook it badly in the first place.

I think ultimately it's a matter of common sense. If you feel the ingredients are good quality and you know you have reheated to a high enough temperature each time (not just warm but hot) you'll probably be fine. But you have to make that decision yourself.

I just get tired of seeing the "reheat once" mantra trotted out like it's the law or something - it doesn't magically become toxic 2nd time round unless there are significant amounts of bacteria in there in the first place.

theyoungvisiter · 25/03/2009 20:32

having said that, I probably wouldn't reheat a shop bought pie because you don't know how good the ingredients were in the first place (unless you really, really trust your supplier). But that goes back to common sense really.

Bonneville · 25/03/2009 20:39

Lol - I remember years ago my Grandmother always seemed to have a huge pan of broth on the go for days at a time; kept getting reheated and none of us suffered any ill effects!

waitingforgodot · 26/03/2009 09:52

I know but I wouldn't eat it myself unless I had made it myself.
Bonneville, I know what you mean about the soup thing. Probably didn't even go in the fridge and everyone was fine!

yes! unless you're one of those people who use anti-bacterial stuff everywhere so your stomach has no natural defences of its own! just make sure its piping hot.
