can you freeze cheese?

i have quite a lot of cheddar cheese that needs to be eaten. I was just wondering if i could grate it and freeze it?

Would be very handy if i could.

Yes, you can.

My aunt buys huge great big chunks of parmesan, grates it then freezes it and uses it straight from the freezer.

Yeah but IME it goes all crumbly and doesn't slice v well, but if you just want it grated shouldn't be a problem
