do you stick cakes to cake boards?

It's only just occurred to me that if not, they might fall off when being carried or transported! & if you do stick them to the boards, what do you use?

Never have, but that's not a bad idea. I'd probably use a bit of whatever icing I was using.

I have never bothered to stick them before (their weight stops them sliding about) but this year's cake was quite tall and I was worried about toppling, so I used the buttercream which was on the cake to stick it to the board.

Yes - fruitcakes with apricot jam, sponge with buttercream or jam

just wondered, as I was making a cake for MIL but she was taking it in the car so wondered if sticking it with something would stop it sliding about, if it happened to
