All I know is you will need pink icing!

This is a totally wacky idea and probably completely impossible. But you know those greetings cards where you record yourself saying "happy birthday grandma we love you" and it plays when she opens the card? I wonder if you can get really cheap, basic, things, whatever goes inside those cards, from a craft shop, and you can record a really loud oink oink noise? LOL I know it probably sounds mad but this is the sort of thing I complicate my life with. Just an idea! For when you bring it out or blow out candles or something, or the end of singing Happy Birthday!

hereidrawtheline · 21/03/2009 12:57

but then of course you could just oink oink yourself doesnt have to be recorded. I was trying to think of a way to make the cake oink.

Oooh I have a pic of my dd's Peppa cake on my profile

hereidrawtheline · 21/03/2009 13:10

wow your cakes look great!!! And you look like a vixen!

princessmel · 21/03/2009 13:27

Thanks

The Peppa one looks quite fab even if I do say so myself!

I made a large square cake and cut the face shape out of it. It was quite hard to make sure I didn't lose the ears!

Then dh covered the whole thing in Peppa colour butter crream and I piped the darker pink outline on.
I used sugar icing balls to fill in the eyes and sparkly icing dust for her cheeks.

I'm also attempting a Peppa Pig cake for DD's 3rd birthday.

Ive done some sketches of Peppa and her family and it seems to be quite tricky to get the shape of their snouts right! lol

I think Princessmel ( glare at you for being so hawt!) has the right idea of doing a head shapped cake.

Xavielli · 21/03/2009 14:04

*shaped. sigh

nuttygirl · 21/03/2009 14:35

Oh dd is having a George birthday cake but I cheated and bought an edible icing topper for it off ebay . Used this seller if you're interested shop.ebay.co.uk/merchant/pinkyrach84

In my searches for how to make a George cake though I did find a site that basically sent you a 'pattern' so you make a rectangular cake, then put the pattern sheet over the top and cut round it so you have the right shape. Then you just cover with the right coloured icing etc. Can't remember the site but basically all you need is to photocopy a picture of Peppa the size you want the cake to be.

nuttygirl · 21/03/2009 14:37

www.bake-my-cakes.com/userimages/procart3.htm this was the site with the patterns

It probably wont look as good closer!!!

I didn't have a reciepe. I never do. I just sort of make it up

We borrrowed 2 square cake tins from my mum , I think they were 8 or 10 inches.

Then we made normal sponges and sandwiched them with butter cream and jam.

Then I 'drew' the shape of Peppa's face with a knife (gently at first to make sure it was correct) and cut it out. You could use a template or a pic printed off the internet and made the right size to draw round.

Then dh covered the cake with butter cream. I used a pink icing pen for the outline.

something like this but from sainsburys or tesco. www.sugarshack.co.uk/product/33001/Pink_Icing_Writer

The sparkles were like this but again from Tesco or sainsburys . In pale pink.www.sugarshack.co.uk/product/32054/Bright_Sugars_4Mix_Sprinkles

That looks fab! I did a peppa cake as well for DD1's 3rd, is on my profile. I just went for the house, on the hill, which was just blocks 'glued' with icing.
I was going to use her peppa figures to stand aruond it but she managed to lsoe them so I ended up making them out of icing.

princessmel · 23/03/2009 09:42

Thats brill JB The icing figures make it

My mum made a cake like that for me when I was little. It was a house cake with Sylvanian families bears on it.

Xavielli · 24/03/2009 08:32

Going to buy all the stuff for this today! I am rather excited actually... maybe a little unhealthy....

Baybeelurve · 14/04/2009 10:38
