Would you get one 2nd hand, or rather brand new?

Maybe worth saving up for a new one then, can't afford to spend the money & have it break down.

There's a Kenwood on the Tesco site I'm going to get in the meantime I think

I got myself this a few years ago, as a this-will-do-while-I-decide-whether-to-get-a-really-expensive mixer, if you see what I mean. I really like it and then it got a tremendous review from Which, so I haven't bothered to get the expensive mixer yet...

chatname....I have that one too and bought it for the same reasons as you did, it is really really good and I am most impressed with it, not ready to go out and buy the kitchen Aid I would sell my soul for. One of its great features is you can remove the mixer form its stand and use as a hand held mixer too...a great little invention that I knew I would use. Well worth it
