I'm having family over on Friday and was planning on making the sizzling beef, meatballs or garlic coated chicken. Which should I make?

Of the three above I've only made the meatballs which were very nice.

Also I'd appreciate advice on which other recipes in the book are worth making.

TIA.

There was a whole thread about the book somewhere ... hang on...

the fish pie is lovely - i usually don't like fish pies but it is very light and tasty

we also like the curries in that book

sizzling beef is nice

i have not tried the others though

try here

I've only made the meatballs out of the three you've said (they were yum)

The tikka is nice, personally I don't think you need the water though with a tin of toms & coconut milk, I usually do a tin & a half of toms but think it would be too 'runny' with water added as well.

Sizzling beef nice as well, & the minced beef wellington was easy to do & wolfed down by my lot

Agree about the water thing. I made chicken tikka and chilli con carne and both were too watery. I wished I'd followed my gut instinct and not added it. Tasted yummy though (if a bit mild).

Meatloaf is nice, although would be better with equal quantities of pork and beef mince, rather than just beef, imo.

I've not tried the chilli yet, will keep that in mind ohdear when I get round to it & add a bit more chilli

CrackerNut · 18/03/2009 16:24

Also agree about the water. I have made the chilli and adding the water spoilt it imo.

I also made the macaroni and cauliflower cheese but didn't add the suggested water and it was lovely.

Have also only made the meatballs out of those three so not much help. sizzling beef sounds impressive though.
