it needs to be cherry or date or fruit of some sort. it's for a school event. so

sticky prine and date

or

cherry and almond

or

date and walnut

I really want something that looks appealing. and tastes good, obviously

Date and walnut.

Hassled · 16/03/2009 20:25

Nothing beats Cherry and Almond as a combination.

Except...are nuts allowed at your school events? That would also rule out my second choice - I think it has to be the Prune and Date.

good point hassled - I'll have to check. I suspect not.

I think the prune and date one - from delia's description alone. Sounds like sticky toffee pudding in a cake.

bellavita · 16/03/2009 20:36

Cherry and Almond.

BirdyArms · 16/03/2009 20:38

Cherry and almond is the best looking but I think that prune and date would be the best tasting. Could maybe put some icing on the prune and date to jazz them up a bit.

Friendlypizzaeater · 16/03/2009 20:40

Oooh I've got a bag of prunes and was thinking the other day, what could I do with them (other than eat them all in one sitting)

NuckingFuts · 16/03/2009 20:40

cherry and almond

Cies · 16/03/2009 20:42

The cherry and almond looks good.

But I have tasted the date and prune one and it's DELICIOUS!

choochoochaboogie · 17/03/2009 09:41

date and walnut

choochoochaboogie · 17/03/2009 09:43

well actually - all 3 of them

hatwoman · 17/03/2009 10:57

confirmed this morning that it needs to be nut free. so that means the prune and date - (the date and walnut has nuts in it, as well as on it) or any other suggestions?

chocolate............

just reporting back - I did the sticky prune and date and it is absolutely gorgeous (as well as stupidly easy). It gets better with age - apparently - and it's not due to put in an appearance at school event for a week. I fear for its survival.

I also think it might have to marketed as sticky fruit cake...or sticky date cake - as I think prunes put people off.

but it's definitely one I'll make again.
